The Ridgefield Park Police Department Patrol Division is the backbone of the Police Department. These dedicated officers are committed to the service and protection of the Village residents and its visitors. The Patrol Division is the largest division in the Police Department.
The Patrol Officer is usually the first contact the citizens of the Village will have with the Police Department and it is our mission to make it a positive one. The Patrol Division operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week with the main function of responding to calls for service. During the course of a typical year we will respond to over 16,000 calls. Patrol Officers have the additional responsibility of enforcing the local and State motor vehicle and criminal statutes.
The Patrol Officer’s job is like no other job, every day brings something different then the last. Officers on a daily basis can be involved in lifesaving Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, helping a victim of Domestic Violence, or dealing with a juvenile in crisis to name a few.
Patrol Officers are highly trained and carry a variety of equipment with them. Each patrol car is stocked with life saving medical equipment including cardiac defibrillators. In car video systems, computer equipment and automated license plate readers can instantly alert our officers to wanted felons, missing persons, and stolen vehicles. We also have radiological detection devices that keep us alert to possible threats within the Village or passing through.
The Officers patrol the Village streets aggressively and with their high visibility they ensure the Village continues to remain a safe place to live
