Division of Youth and Family Services

The Division of Youth and Family Services, commonly referred to as DYFS is New Jersey’s child protection and child welfare agency within the Department of Children and Families. Its mission is to ensure the safety, permanency and well-being of children and to support families.  DYFS is charged with the task of investigating child abuse and neglect cases reported to the agency as well as making arrangements for the child’s protection and family treatment.

The Ridgefield Park Police Department works hand and hand with DYFS whenever a suspected child abuse or neglect case is reported to them.  Child abuse or neglect cases can be reported to the police department or directly to DYFS.  DYFS can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by contacting 1-877-NJ ABUSE.  In addition, more information on this agency can be found at www.state.nj.us/dcf/divisions/dyfs/
