Parking Enforcement Officer

parking_smmThe Board of Commissioners and the Ridgefield Park Police Department have been listening to concerns over the years from residents and business owners in reference to the limited availability of metered parking spaces in the Main Street Business District.

We recently hired a civilian parking enforcement officer who will begin employment on August 4th, 2014.  The Parking Enforcement Officer will be walking  the entire Main Street business district including the Park Street & Cedar Street Municipal lots. It is important to keep in mind that this person is a civilian and NOT a police officer.  You are reminded to call police headquarters at 201-641-6400 if you need police assistance or in an emergency you may also call 911.  The parking enforcement officer will wear a distinct uniform completely different than a police officer to alleviate any confusion.  He will have proper identification at all times and possess the authority to write summonses as directed by the Ridgefield Park Police Department.

We want to remind the public that strict enforcement will be adhered to by the parking enforcement officer.  Enforcement of overtime/expired meters, 2 hour maximum parking in a metered space, parking within lines in a metered space as well as loading zones, crosswalk, here to corner, handicapped, and fire hydrant violations will be strictly enforced as well.

As always, we welcome your comments and concerns.  Please feel free to contact Lieutenant Charles Gneiding or Sergeant Al Locarno at Police Headquarters.
