10:30 am Monday 11/5/2012

Halloween is being celebrated today.

The is an 8:00 pm curfew being enforced for all people under the age of 21.

11:15 am (11/03/2012)

This is a message from Mayor George Fosdick

  • The Village remains under a state of emergency. The sunset curfew remains in effect for all people under the age of 18.
  • We still do not have any reliable information from PSEG about the restoration of power.
  • The Village IGA is working under generator power and is open from 7am to 7pm. They do not have any perishable items at this time, but they do have produce, water, bread, canned items, etc. available.
  • The Presidential Election will take place on Tuesday, November 6 at the usual polling places. The polling at the Municipal Building will take place in the garage of the police department on the Park Street side of the building.
  • Quarterly tax payment deadline has been extended through 11/16.
  • Gas stations in the Village are still without power. Those residents traveling outside the Village for fuel are reminded that the Odd/Even system is now in effect.
  • The phone system at the OEM office is sporadic and calls may not go through.
  • The DPW will continue to pick up debris from the curb.
  • There is a food and clothing drive at the Ridgefield Park High School to benefit the residents of the Village from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday 11/3 & 11/4

3:00 pm (11/02/2012)

The Ridgefield Park Office of Emergency Management and the Ridgefield Park Fire Department will be conducting a food and clothing drive to assist those Village residents affected by Hurricane Sandy. The drive will be on Saturday and Sunday, November 3rd & 4th. Drop off will be at the Ridgefield Park Jr/Sr High School from 10am to 4pm each day.

If you are a resident in need, please come to the High School during the hours listed above for pick up.

ITEMS NEEDED:
Coats, blankets, baby items, children’s clothing, canned food, non-perishables, toiletries, water, and manual can openers etc..

Power is still out throughout the Village and we do not have any additional information on the return of power. Please refrain from contacting the police desk with questions regarding when power will be restored.

The Ridgefield Park School System will be closed on Friday, November 2, 2012.

Just a reminder that power is still out throughout the Village and we do not know when power will be restored. Please keep your children indoors for their safety.


4:30 pm (10/31/2012)

Halloween has been postponed until Monday, November 5th.  Please do not allow your children to go trick-or-treating today.

There are still many wires and trees down and it is not safe for them to be outside.

The curfew is still in effect at sundown for all juveniles.

Just a reminder to keep your children indoors for their safety.


9:30 am (10/31/2012)

Just a reminder to all residents. The sunset curfew is still in effect as of 10/31/2012.

There will be no Trick-or-Treating today. Children are not permitted to Trick-or-Treat until Saturday.

There are still many wires and trees down throughout the Village. If you plan on leaving your homes please be careful.

Do not let children play outside the home without supervision. There may be wires down that are not easily seen especially in piles of leaves that may be in the roadways.

7:55 am (10/30/2012)

The Ridgefield Park Police Department is advising that the Village is in a State of Emergency. Most major roadways are impassable.  Rt 46 closed in both directions.  Major flooding, trees and wires down throughout the Village. All residents are advised to stay indoors.  Only emergency vehicular traffic are allowed on Village roads.

Storm will be intensifying over the next 3-4 hours.  High winds and rain expected to get stronger.  Stay indoors.  Higher flood waters expected.

Bergen Turnpike and lower area of Village flooded. Tree limbs down throughout Village.  Storm center still 6-7 hours from NJ. More serious flooding expected.  Please do not approach down wires.  Call PSE&G for down wires or power outages at 1-800-436-7734

 

The Ridgefield Park Police Department is advising all residents to stay indoors. All non essential travel should be eliminated until after the storm has passed.  Notify PSE&G with any power outages.  People in flood prone areas should evacuate before the storm progresses.   Do not wait to be evacuated by boat or by way of emergency services.   The flood waters are expected to be at record setting levels.
