Chief’s Message Winter 2012

Happy Holidays!
All of us at the Ridgefield Park Police Department wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
The winter season will be upon us shortly and I want to provide some reminders to follow during this holiday season and for any upcoming snow storms:
Please follow the No Parking When Roads are Snow Covered signs whenever there is an impending snow storm. These storms are generally forecasted far enough in advance to give everyone the proper time to remove their vehicles from the No Parking side of the streets.
Do not rely on listening for public announcements via the patrol vehicles on patrol. The announcement for removing vehicles will be disseminated via the reverse 911 system, Nixle, and the Ridgefield Park Police Department’s website. Remember, all vehicles remaining on the snow side are subject to ticketing and towing.
All residents and businesses are reminded to remove snow and ice from their sidewalks and storefronts. The village ordinance requires snow removal at the end of each storm. If you will be away for any period of time and would be unable to take care of the removal yourself, please make arrangements with someone in advance to have the snow removed before you leave.
Also, the Board of Commissioners has passed a resolution declaring a moratorium on the payment of meter fees in the Main Street business district. The dates are from December 1, 2012 through January 1, 2013. Meter enforcement will be suspended but all other parking regulations remain in effect and will be enforced.
Again, best wishes for a safe, healthy and prosperous new year!
